Monica has lived in the beautiful city of Harrisonburg for nearly 45 years.  What she loves most about the Shenandoah Valley are its lush green valleys and beautiful mountain views.  Monica is a mother, grandmother, grassroots activist, and community member.  After years of being a special education teacher, Monica changed her career path.  She is now the Executive Director of the Shenandoah Valley Black Heritage Project.  Monica loves focusing on family, volunteering, and improving life for her community. She looks forward to being a part of a council that values working as a team and bringing in community expertise and opinions.
