Taking Community Advocacy to City Hall

The Vision Statement for Harrisonburg City states that we are fortunate to live in a diverse city "where differences are embraced, celebrated, and accommodated." Our friendly city is a hub of excitement and a common destination for our neighbors from the surrounding counties.  Whether you come for food, shopping, or entertainment, you will feel safe and be greeted with kindness.  We live in the economic capital of the Shenandoah Valley, and it is a place where all individuals benefit from that fact.  We have worked hard for our city to be vibrant, safe, and welcoming.  As a result, our city is a melting pot of diverse cultures and ethnicities that have come together to form the rich fabric of our city.

Monica's Vision for Harrisonburg is for our City Council to craft a better way of involving our diverse communities in the process of creating, choosing, and implementing solutions to the many issues we face. She looks forward to evaluating policy options and the budget using the principles of sustainability, equity, and inclusivity.

Monica decided to run for Harrisonburg City Council to help shape the future narrative of our Friendly City and to work with existing council members to make informed decisions reflective of the voices of the community.
